The discovery of beauty is the inspiration for Leslie’s art. She follows an inner imperative to pursue her own imaginative vision, her paintings are never derivative or conceptually based but express authentic, subjective creative experience.

Painting in many media, applying texture and layered paint to a variety of grounds in a wide range of sizes. Each medium presents new opportunities for exploration and development processes that allow her to bypass some of the conscious intent involved in making art. In this way, each painting is a fresh opportunity to discover something new.

Living in the woods of Oregon, she says, “her unconscious storehouse of images is replenished daily by nature’s patterns, textures and rhythms, which transmute into the many layers of my paintings. These layers create a sense of depth and literal or metaphoric space, inviting the viewer into the silence of painting for exploration and inward journeying.”
